Bronny James made a triumphant return to the G League after nearly a month-long absence, scoring a career-high 31 points and leading the South Bay Lakers to victory over the Rip City Remix with a final score of 122-110.
James was 10-of-22 from the field, including 5-for-11 from 3-point range, and also had three assists, two rebounds and two steals in South Bay’s second win of the season. But the highlight of the night was his game-tying poster dunk that brought the 623 fans in attendance to their feet.
Late in the third quarter, James brought the ball up the court, dribbled around a screen by Christian Koloko and drove down the lane for a thunderous dunk over Sterling Manley.
“It felt great, it’s a highlight reel,” James said of his monster dunk. “Not much you can say about that, it was just crazy.”
Inspired by the poster slam, South Bay ended the third quarter on a 9-4 run and stayed in front for nearly all of the fourth quarter.
Quincy Olivari added 20 and seven rebounds off the bench, while Koloko scored 16 with 10 rebounds.
