Update on BCCI: Sanju Samson to Replace Ishan Kishan in Duleep Trophy 2024; Latest on Suryakumar Yadav and Prasidh Krishna

New Delhi: Sanju Samson has been announced as the replacement for the injured Ishan Kishan in the India D squad for the first round of Duleep Trophy 2024, as confirmed by the BCCI on Wednesday. Additionally, the Board provided updates on the health of key players Suryakumar Yadav and Prasidh Krishna, who will be unavailable for the opening matches. The Duleep Trophy 2024 is set to kick off on Thursday in Bengaluru and Anantapur, with all four teams set to compete.

Kishan suffered a groin injury during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. “The Men’s Selection Committee has named Sanju Samson as Kishan’s replacement in the India D squad,” the BCCI said in a release. Suryakumar, who injured his hand while fielding during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, is suffering from a sprain to his right thumb.

“The BCCI Medical Team is continuing to assess his injury, and a further evaluation next week will determine his availability for the second round,” the release added. On Krishna, the BCCI said, “Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is nearing completion of his rehab following surgery for his left quadriceps tendon and will miss the first-round game of the Duleep Troph.”

Meanwhile, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been cleared to play and will be available for selection.
