New Delhi: Bangladesh bowler Hasan Mahmud made a significant impact by taking the key wicket of Indian captain Virat Kohli on the opening day of the Test match on Thursday, September 19. The match is being held at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Virat Kohli was dismissed on the second ball of the 10th over. Hasan Mahmud pitched the full delivery straight as it passed the off stump, while 35-year-old Kohli went for a mighty drive and edged the ball onto the chest of wicket-keeper Litton Das.

Virat Kohli scored just six runs off six balls before his dismissal left India in a precarious position at 34 for 3 after 9.2 overs. Hasan Mahmud has been outstanding, claiming all three of India’s wickets so far.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. India skipper Rohit Sharma survived a close LBW call in the fourth over but got out on the first delivery of the sixth over.

Hasan Mahmud pitched a length delivery around off stump that seamed away, which resulted in an outside edge that was caught by Shanto. Rohit failed to make any impact with the bat as he just scored six runs off 19 deliveries consisting one boundary.
