IND vs PAK Hockey Final: India Clinches Junior Asia Cup Title with a 5-3 Victory Over Pakistan in the Final

New Delhi: In a thrilling finale of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024 Hockey, India emerged victorious over arch-rivals Pakistan in a closely contested match held in Muscat, Oman. Successfully defending their title, the Indian team showcased a stellar performance throughout the tournament, remaining unbeaten in all their matches. Despite a valiant effort from the Pakistani team, India proved to be too strong, clinching the championship with a hard-fought win.

Both teams started attacking:
India and Pakistan played an attacking game from the beginning of this final match. Pakistan scored a goal in the first few minutes of the match and took a 1-0 lead. However, India scored a goal in the fourth minute and tied the match 1-1. From India’s side, Arjit Singh Hundal converted a penalty corner into a goal. Due to this, the first quarter ended in a draw.

The second quarter saw a strong start from the Indian team. In the 18th minute, Arijit Singh Hundal again converted a penalty corner into a goal and gave the team a 2-1 lead. After this, in the 19th minute, the Indian team increased its lead to 3-1. Dilraj Singh scored a brilliant field goal. But by the end of the second quarter, Pakistan again made a comeback and converted a penalty corner into a goal just before half time, due to which the match reached 3-2 at half time.

The second half saw a tough fight:
The first goal came from Pakistan in the third quarter of the match. Pakistan once again converted a penalty corner into a goal and tied the match at 3-3. This was also the only goal of this quarter. But in the last quarter, the Indian team scored a goal right in the beginning. Arjit Singh Hundal scored another goal in the match and gave India a 4-3 lead. After this, India scored another goal in the last quarter and increased the lead to 5-3.

Team India’s performance in Asia Cup 2024:
The Indian team started the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024 by defeating Thailand 11-0. After this, it defeated Japan 3-2 and Chinese Taipei 16-0. It also won 8-1 against Korea. At the same time, in the semi-finals, India defeated Malaysia 3-1 to make it to the finals.
