New Delhi: On October 2, India commemorated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. Gandhi ji played a pivotal role in India's struggle for independence from British rule. His image is prominently featured on Indian currency notes as a mark of respect and honor. Similarly, countries around the world also pay tribute to their great leaders by featuring their pictures on currency notes. However, there is only one cricketer in the world whose image has been printed on currency notes so far.

Barbados is the only country on the Caribbean island that has printed a picture of its great cricketer on its currency notes. That great cricketer played cricket for the West Indies, and the people of West Indies remember their great cricketer. Let us know who that great cricketer is whose picture has been printed on currency notes.

Frank Worrell is a name that was not only a great cricketer but also a great human being. He may not be in this world anymore, but stories of his greatness are still read. He is the only cricketer in the world whose picture has been printed on the currency of Barbados. Seeing his best contribution towards the game, the Central Bank of Barbados started printing Frank’s picture on its postage stamps and currency notes.

Frank Worrell made his Test debut for West Indies in 1948 against England. He was out after scoring 97 runs in his first innings. His score never went below 50 till the last series of his career. Before that, he had proved his mettle in first-class cricket. Frank Worrell scored 3860 runs in 51 Test matches at an average of 49.48. He scored nine centuries and 22 half-centuries in his Test career.

Frank Worrell is not only seen as a great cricketer but also as a great human being. Frank Worrell left this world at the age of 42. In his career, he may not have become a great player like Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Vivian Richards, Brian Lara, Sir Don Bradman, but he was definitely a good person. Due to his greatness, even his opponents liked him a lot.

The greatness of Frank Worrell can be gauged from the fact that he once saved the life of his opponent by donating his blood. Actually, in 1962, the Indian team was on a tour of the West Indies and during a match, the Indian captain Nari Contractor got injured. After this, he was admitted to the hospital, where the doctors demanded blood and then Frank, without thinking, saved the life of the Indian player by donating his blood.
