Update: New Delhi: India is currently competing against South Africa in the first T20I of the four-match series at Kingsmead Cricket Stadium in Durban. Opting to bat first, the Indian team posted an outstanding total of 202 runs, with Sanju Samson playing a stellar innings. He notched up his second T20I century, setting new records and reaching a milestone that even the illustrious MS Dhoni had not accomplished.

Sanju Samson slammed 107 from 50 balls in the first T20I vs South Africa. He thus became the first Indian wicketkeeper to slam an overseas century in history. This is a feat that the likes of MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant or even KL Rahul has not achieved in history.

Samson now also holds the prestigious record for the highest individual score by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in T20Is, both at home and abroad.

Samson’s 111 against Bangladesh stands as the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in a home T20I, while his 107 versus South Africa is the highest away from home in this format.

Sanju Samson made history as the first Indian to score two consecutive T20I centuries. His century against South Africa followed his first T20I century in the final match of a three-game series against Bangladesh in October in Hyderabad. This achievement makes him only the fourth batter in history to do so, joining Gustav Mackeon (France), Phil Salt (England), and Rilee Rossouw (South Africa).

During his innings, Samson smashed 10 sixes and 7 fours, tying the record for the most sixes by an Indian in a T20I innings—a feat previously achieved by Rohit Sharma.
