New Delhi: As Coldplay's concert approached its final moments, lead singer Chris Martin paused his performance and jokingly informed the audience that he needed to wrap up quickly. He said it was time for Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah to make his appearance on the field at the stadium.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah expressed his delight over Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin‘s gesture during their Navi Mumbai concert. Martin gave Bumrah a special shoutout, playing a video of Bumrah’s famous wicket of England’s Ollie Pope on the big screen at the following night’s show, which brought a smile to Bumrah’s face.

Towards the end of the concert, Chris Martin paused his performance and jokingly told fans that he needed to wrap up soon as it was time for Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah to play cricket at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where the concert was held.

During the first show at DY Patil Stadium, Martin joked that they had to finish the show as Bumrah was eager to bowl. On the second day, Martin clarified his earlier comments, playfully showing a clip of Bumrah’s iconic wicket of Ollie Pope. The audience erupted in excitement, and Martin added that they would make Bumrah wait for 15 more minutes before playing the final song with the crowd.

The concert was part of Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” with a final performance at DY Patil Stadium scheduled for Monday, and another show at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25. Jasprit Bumrah has been selected in India’s squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
