Nicolas Jackson's Fate Revealed Following Scuffle in Chelsea's Match Against Nottingham Forest

The Premier League match on Sunday took a heated turn in its final moments when Neco Williams shoved Marc Cucurella in the back, causing the Spaniard to collide with Enzo Maresca on the touchline.

The incident sparked a heated melee between both sets of players, including Jackson, who had earlier been substituted for Christopher Nkunku at Stamford Bridge.

Referee Chris Kavanagh eventually allowed play to continue following a VAR check and the points were shared, with Noni Madueke cancelling out Chris Wood’s opener in a frantic start to the second half.

Footage later emerged which appeared to show an enraged Jackson striking Forest defender Morato in the face, leaving Chelsea sweating over a potential suspension for the forward ahead of the side’s trip to Liverpool.

This afternoon it was confirmed that Chelsea and Forest had been charged but Jackson will receive no retrospective punishment for his scuffle with Morato.

The two clubs have until Thursday to respond to the charges.

‘Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged after the mass confrontation at their Premier League fixture on Sunday, 6 October,’ the statement read.

‘It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute.

‘Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have until Thursday, 10 October, to provide their responses.’

The Blues sit fourth in the Premier League table and had won five games on the bounce in all competitions before dropping points at home to Forest.

Cucurella and Wesley Fofana both received their fifth bookings of the season in the draw, meaning they will miss Chelsea’s meeting with Liverpool on October 20 through suspension.

‘I said many times it is something we need to improve,’ Maresca said of Chelsea’s poor disciplinary record in his post-match press conference.

‘But I like the team the way they are fighting and become a team.’
