The Brazil international had to be substituted during Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last Saturday after suffering a hamstring injury.
Alisson was replaced in the 79th minute, with third-choice keeper Vitezslav Jaros coming off the bench in the absence of Caoimhin Kelleher, who missed the game through illness.
Kelleher is now expected to deputise for Alisson for an extended period, with The Times reporting that Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper will be sidelined for at least seven games.
That means Alisson will be unavailable for Liverpool’s Premier League games against Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton and Aston Villa.
