Alisson's injury update: Liverpool goalkeeper limps off against Crystal Palace

Liverpool maintained their impressive run under Slot with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, thanks to Diogo Jota's goal in the first half.

However, the Reds’ afternoon was sullied when Alisson fell to the floor in pain having hurt his hamstring midway through the second half.

The Brazillian was withdrawn in the 79th minute, with third-choice keeper Vitezslav Jaros replacing him for the final minutes.

Alisson missed two games last month with a minor hamstring niggle but now appears set for a lengthier spell on the treatment table, with Slot hinting at full-time that the 32-year-old could be out until after the November international break.

Looking ahead to his side’s tricky schedule after the international break, the Dutchman told TNT Sports: ‘Unfortunately Ali will not be with us in those matches I assume, if I saw how he walked off the pitch.

‘The fixtures are difficult but I’ve also felt how difficult Wolves away is and how difficult Crystal Palace away is. We will probably not be as dominant as we were today.

‘Both fixtures were difficult and it’s very good that we won these games, it’s up to us to show ourselves in the big games as well.’

Virgil van Dijk also hinted that Alisson’s injury could be rather serious, saying at full-time: ‘Alisson’s injury doesn’t look good. It looks like a hamstring injury which was already bothering him, and from which he recovered.’

The games Alisson could miss for Liverpool

Chelsea (H) – 20 October

RB Leipzig (A) – 23 October

Arsenal (A) – 27 October

Brighton (A) – 30 October

Brighton (H) – 2 November

Bayer Leverkusen (H) – 5 November

Aston Villa (H) – 9 November

Asked about his side’s impressive defensive record, the Dutch centre-back added: ‘We keep going and we keep working. We are never satisfied. We needed Alli [Alisson] twice, but that is what we try to avoid. Everyone is contributing to clean sheets.

‘I think there is always expectations towards different teams – whatever the outside world thinks of us we don’t really care.

‘We want to try challenge, compete, win and be successful.’

After the international break, Liverpool host Chelsea before two tricky fixtures on the road against RB Leipzig and Arsenal.
